McHENRY, MD – Peyton Carr is just as thrilled to be joining the Lakers as Garrett College head baseball coach Eric Hallenbeck is to have Carr coming on board.
"I chose to play at Garrett College because they have a great program there and Coach Hallenbeck does a great job," said Carr, who is preparing for his senior season as a Northern Garrett High infielder. "And I'm glad he gave me an opportunity to be a Laker."
"Peyton plays the game with an edge I like," said Hallenbeck, who led the Lakers to an NJCAA Division II Region XX third-place finish last spring.
"He's very athletic, knows the game and plays with a chip on his shoulder," added Hallenbeck. "He will fit right in here because that's how I want my guys to play and that's how I coach."
The versatile infielder indicated he also chose GC because he wanted to stay close to home and get a chance to play right away. Carr will be joining a Laker program that knocked off three higher-seeded opponents in last spring's regional tournament and nearly reached the region finals.
