Brandon Lucas came on in relief to strikeout Potomac State's Dale Houser in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and two outs to earn his first save of his college career as Garrett beat Potomac State 10-9 at Golden Park in Keyser Wednesday afternoon. Potomac State opened the scoring in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead. The Lakers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 5th on a two-run double by Lucas. The Catamounts took the lead back in the home half of the sixth when Devon Neal blasted a 2-1 pitch over the scoreboard in right-center for a three-run home run to put them back up 4-2. The Lakers cut the lead to 4-3 in the seventh on an RBI single by Colby Johnson and in the top of the eighth, Quintin Smith smacked a two-run homer to left to put the Lakers back on top 5-4. In the bottom of the inning after two-outs, Potomac State used two walks and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. After a pitching change, Potomac State's Connor Kelly drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at five. After the walk, Nick Bishop came in to get the Lakers out of the bases-loaded jam by striking out Preston Taylor to end the eighth. In the top of the ninth, the Lakers used four walks, two hit-by-pitches and a two-run single from Tanner George to score five runs in the inning to take a 10-5 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. Potomac State took advantage of four walks, a hit-by-pitch and a two-run homer from Graham Brown to cut the Laker lead to 10-9 when Lucas came in to get the last out. The Lakers improve to 4-2 on the year while Potomac State falls to 2-6. Garrett will be back in action Thursday, March 5th as they travel to Allegany College for a single game at 3 pm.
