After suffering their first loss of the year Saturday night, it didn't take long for Garrett to make sure they wouldn't get their second loss of the year as they defeated visiting Butler 116-72 at CARC Arena Wednesday night. The Lakers opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back. Merlon Devine and Strahinja Ivic opened the scoring with back-to-back three-pointers and Nathan Payet added two free-throws and a two-point basket to put the Lakers up early. Devine scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half and Payet added 14 as the Lakers went into halftime with a 64-31 lead. Payet finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds, Freshmen point-guard Oliver Jacquot chipped in with 19, Ivic and Meron Gheybreyesus had 13 apiece and D'monte Brown had 12. The lone bright spot for the Pioneers was Sophomore guard Jamir Carter who poured in 40 points for Butler. The Lakers will go on the road and face their toughest test of the year when they travel to undefeated CCBC-Dundalk (7-0) Saturday, November 23rd. Game time is 3 pm. The Lakers defeated the Lions last year at CARC Arena 60-50 last year. This will be the Lakers' first DII region XX game of the year. Garrett will be going into Saturday's game scoring 103.6 points a game which is sixth in the country and holding opponents to 33.1% field goal percentage which is also sixth in the country.
